Juju Alishina

The instructor of this course, Juju Alishina, has dedicated her life to Nihon-Buyoh, beginning her training as a child in Japan. She holds a professional qualification and teaching license in this traditional Japanese dance form. Juju began studying Butoh at the age of 19 and has since performed and taught Nihon-Buyoh and Butoh internationally.


Nihon-Buyoh

Nihon-Buyoh is the traditional art of dance and mime in Japan, which appeared in theEdo period (early 17th century) from older traditions. Although performed independently by specialists. It is a very complex dance using techniques that combine the use of the fan, the umbrella and some special accessories.

Throughout the program, you will not only learn how to dance, but also understand the context and meaning of the song you will be performing. In each session, you will learn more about the origins and regional influences of Nihon-Buyoh, making it a truly holistic experience.


What participants should prepare
 

  1. Attire: Comfortable clothes, socks, and a kimono if you have one.
  2. A fan (photo above) or one object that replaces it


The kimono:

In addition to learning the dance, you will also learn how to properly wear a kimono, tie an obi (the traditional sash) and fold it correctly, essential skills for performing Nihon-Buyoh.
But you don't need to buy a kimono for this formation.

Gion-Kouta is a dance performed by three young girls. In this package, we will focus on the dance of the youngest girl. Filled with a variety of fundamental techniques, this choreography allows you to experience the full charm of the piece, even by learning just this part.



Additional points: The dance we will practice this time is a feminine dance, but men are welcome to join if they wish to learn the feminine movements.

Recordings are available for viewing for a 30 days. The videos cannot be downloaded unless you have taken private lessons.


Additional option: For a more personalized experience, book a private 90-minute session for 120 euros, at a date of your choice.
